Postoperative rehabilitation will focus on, pain and edema control, Joint range of motion, Muscle exercises, Gait training and balance. Rest elevation and icing will all help with pain control and edema in the first 2 weeks. During the first 2 weeks walking short distances with increasing frequency is the primary exercise. You should also work on butt (gluteus Maximus) squeezes, seated leg extension and heel slides. Standing leg swings forward and to the side. You can begin stationary bike, marching, hip flexion exercise and resistance exercises at 6 weeks after surgery.
